In many cases we are faced with new devices, and we wonder if it really worth it. Sometimes it may seem “cruel”, but the simple truth. Constantly emerging new devices that offer a particular service does not stop being too attractive or not is something to be a fan of the technology can not do enough to achieve. Within this description could frame to Tizi, a tuner that appeared recently in order to add digital terrestrial television service to Apple laptops.

This device has been designed for users of iPhone and iPad, and is basically a small-sized device that receives signals through a built-in DTT, and then sends them to the aforementioned mobile devices wirelessly through a Wi Fi.

The team works really well and is noted for its originality, but the digital terrestrial television services are not yet widespread acceptance in many countries. That’s a big downside to Tizi.

And now you can download apps from iTunes that allow you to see different streaming TV channels worldwide, without the need to carry the tiny gadget anywhere you go.

Tizi tuner has an internal battery that charges via a USB port, which provides a maximum range is three hours. For its part, the price of the device is around 150 euros.

Avermedia is Passed From Computer to your Television with its New Extremevision

June 10, 2010 · Posted in Cable and Satellite TV, Gadget and Gizmo, Internet · Comment

Avermedia ExtremeVisionAvermedia has decided to make the leap from your computer (most known are the tuner) the protagonist of the room, the TV.

Avermedia ExtremeVision is the new player with high definition multimedia content with support for 1080p but where we have to put the external hard drive via two USB ports or via eSATA connection.

Integrated Web Navigation

The Avermedia ExtremeVision wants to be important in web browsing, like many other media centers. To achieve this we can connect a keyboard and mouse to the USB port and gain the flexibility to play with the Internet. We will have to prove how well it works and I’ll tell soon.

However, the lack of flash support leaves a little to take this functionality.

The other highlight specifications DLNA compatibility,  support for DTS and Dolby sound, and almost all video formats are welcome, including the MKV container. It comes with an Ethernet port but no WiFi, for which we will need an adapter.

As to using this chip ExtremeVision Avermedia is a Sigma 8655 Dual Core. The price is EUR 175 more expensive than other streamers on the market, so we’ll see if these extras are worth the browser interface or see if I can fulfill what we normally ask this type of equipment.

Bravia WE5

The new model is the Bravia WE5 “Eco TV”, which includes a smart sensor that can detect the presence if the television is watching. The sensor senses movement of a body heat to be placed in the range of the TV screen.

If the viewer is asleep, the motion sensor detects it and puts the picture option off, reducing electricity consumption. If the last person leaves the room, the heat detector senses movement and re-use the picture option off. If for any reason or circumstance the sleeping person up, or if someone comes back to the room, the display will light up immediately.

The picture mode automatically puts off the black screen, but the sound continues with the same volume level, which reduces the energy consumption from 116 watts to 60 watts. This phase will continue for 30 minutes and then proceeded to shut down.

Anyone can set the motion sensor. The TV will not be shut down for long periods sitting in front of the TV, since it is the body temperature is what controls the mechanism.
