Trend: Less Meetings and More Face Video Conferencing
Video Conferencing systems are coming slowly to all offices. At this time, are being driven by extremely cost-cutting plans that are implementing many companies, so something that was once considered science fiction is now increasingly a reality.
It seems to me that technology has already advanced enough to allow several people we meet through a video conferencing system and not notice the difference with a face meeting. Well, yes, there is one that we can not save, as is drink some coffee with some of the attendees before or after it. However, in my opinion, it is worth considering that we provide ourselves with a videoconferencing system to exploit the advantages offered when arranging meetings. It also comes right up to date in case some day an important client calls us, lest we lose a good business opportunity:
* Video conferencing allows us to save time and make better use of our people, especially to avoid those awkward movements.
* We save space by not needing a room that accommodates all people who are called to the meeting.
* We save money on airfares, taxis, car, hotel food and causing a long journey for a meeting.
* It requires working with documents in electronic form, preventing it from handling paper copies of them.
* Allows you to easily record the meeting, as a record. Another thing is that if you want a summary of it in writing.
* Stay out of the office and meet via video conference from your home (or anywhere else).
Sure there are many more reasons that this technology will make life easier. I think that is no longer something reserved for large corporations, but small and medium enterprises, including self-employed, it is high time we put up with these tools.
Today it is relatively easy to make a video using only a PC connected to the Internet, a microphone and a simple webcam. There are free market solutions and not very complicated to install, as are the systems that provide us with Gmail, Skype and Microsoft. There are many more in the market, simple and more complex, the latter to my escape me.
